As I have mentioned in previous episodes Rocketfuel picks some of the finest coffees from around the word. Komodo Blue Dragon is no exception. The coffee itself comes from Flores and is home of the Komodo Dragon. The island of Flores only recently became known for their quality coffee in 2005 due to a change in methodology of the Indonesia Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute. Most of the coffee grows in this region between 1,200 - 1,800 Meters.
After waiting patiently for my coffee to steep and cool I took my first sniff. At first sniff I thought, "This smells pretty dark and earthy, not to sure about this one..." But as I let the smell linger in my nostrils I noticed a floral aroma in the background that started to spring for with a dark chocolate in front. As I slurped away I received the reward for all my long minutes of patience. The first flavor that jumped out was dark chocolate followed by an earthy woodsy aftertaste. It seems like a pretty straight forward coffee, that is until it started to cool down. During the cool down other flavors sweet raspberry and a buttery smoothness started to become more apparent. I can also tell you that as I type this I am finishing the last of the cup and those flavors are becoming more prominent and enjoyable as time goes on.
I would, beyond a shadow of a doubt, highly recommend Komodo Blue Dragon by Rocketfuel Coffee to a friend that enjoys a dark roast coffee.

This sounds delicious! I love the name too.
I really like the artwork.

I tend to drink darker roasts, and this sounds like something I’d like based on your review. I love the name of this coffee, too!
yes, this is one of the most pleasing dark roasts I have had this month. Cool name and logo agreed.
Thank you Jason. I just sent the email.
No problem, just got your email and responded.
I love a good dark roast and I like their artwork too. Might have to buy some this weekend. I found out last night about a good Ethiopian blend to try. Looks like my coffee wishlist keeps on growing!
