I'd rather always have a porcelain cup, but I go to a big university.... that only offers really stale coffee or really burnt coffee (Starbucks) on campus. So I turn to steel with plastic on the outside, and use this French Press Travel mug...http://www.liquidplanet.com/estore/product.php?productid=192&cat=69&page=1
So far my only complaint is that with the French Press lid, there is no way to fully close it, so sometimes coffee can spill out the top. But it has a filter right at the mouth too, so I have never ended up with grounds in my mouth.
But porcelain definitely wins if I'm not using my cup as a brewer.

It's worth noting that the "I am not a paper cup" is double-walled, like a thermos. Keeps it hot longer. I have toddlers and sometimes have to set my cup down for long stretches of time. This cup does a much better job than normal mugs at staying hot.
