This is the coolest, most succinct way to learn about it. Tried putting pins on maps… but WHAT AN IDIOT I am…!

Close but not exact. The tropic of Capricorn and Tropic of Cancer are located at 23 1/2 degrees South and North of the equator respectively. They are also not poles they are lines of latitude.
