Hatties Fine Coffee Shop Review

My Experience

Immediately upon entering I could smell the amazing aroma of coffee. The cafe had a homey, country feel to it. There was a roaster in the back left corner of the cafe, which tipped me off that this place probably took coffee seriously. The barista greeted me with a huge smile and a hello as a gentleman in the lobby joked with me saying, “The drinks are on special today. Just $2 for a drink and a $90 tip towards the trip she is taking.” This was a place full of regulars, excitement, relationships and felt like an extension of home. Right before I ordered my drink I saw a small sign that said, “all drinks are made with skim milk. If you want 2% or whole just ask.” So I did, “Can I get a small whole milk cappuccino please.” The barista beamed with personality and welcomed me as a first time customer. I took my “for here” drink and sat down in “my” wicker chair which was surprisingly comfortable. As I sat in the cafe it started to thin out. The barista turned the tunes a little louder and sang along quietly behind the bar. I do have to say there was a lot of clutter and trinkets but it all came together and worked somehow. The drink was made properly and I could tell just by looking at the foam it would be nice and sweet. My first sip was an amazingly creamy with a caramel, woodsy sweetness. Delicious!Hatties_Coffee_Shop

This is probably one of the most comfortable and chill coffee shops I have ever been to in my life. This is one coffee shop I would definitely make a special trip to visit again sometime.

Hatties sure sounds better than Hash House a Go Go. This sounds like my kind of coffee shop. Did they actually roast their own coffee? Was it just decor? Did they sell their own specialty coffee?
Isn’t it awesome to find a rare gem like this? If I am ever in the Kansas City area I will try to make it a point to get to Hattie’s Fine Coffee Shop; if I can use “your” wicker chair that is.

Jason,
Thanks for the review! I snuck up to the deli-case after you left to see what you had posted and immediately went to check the website. Glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you enjoy Huntingfield just as much.
Neil,
We do roast our own “specialty coffee” about once a week and sell it. Do come by whenever you are in town. There are two wicker chairs so your odds are good.
Sincerely,
Barista who loves her job

Sounds like they do roast their own coffee. Let me know if you are ever in my neck of the woods and maybe we can grab a coffee.
