Howdy to all.  I'm new to the forum, but I just won some coffee from the live show today and I thought I would continue to contribute.

I started out roasting with a popcorn popper.  But after going through 2 of them, I graduated to the Fresh Roast Plus 8.  It is obviously inexpensive, but it serves the purpose.  However, I do live in Wisconsin and the winters are…let's just say not so warm.  I have placed the roaster in a 5 gallon bucket and partly covered it to keep the heat in a bit, however it is tough to gauge.  I was wondering if anyone has some good ways to modify a ambient temperature roasters?  Let me know because I love roasting.

Kansas can get cold too, and I can't roast indoors. I'm bound to the garage. I think in your situation, you'll need to move up in heat source a bit. It's not exactly "plug and play" but a heat gun and bread machine  or dog bowl combo will work when the temps are quite cold. It does take a bit longer, but it is managable. I use a modified bread machine and heat gun. It's not for everybody, but I like to tinker with things.

The one thing I would like to do though is find a regulated ambient temperature. Otherwise, you can't really get the same roast from batch to batch.
