Do you drink coffee in the morning to wake up? Or do you just enjoy the taste. I myself drink Coffee because I enjoy a nice hot cup make me feel better! But I know a lot of ppl Say that they wouldnt be able to function without a few cups in the morning! Just wondering where others stand on this !!

Thanks Coffee Drinkers!!!

I drink coffee in the mornings for the taste and as my breakfast, although a little caffeine helps.

I drink my morning coffee because I love the experience. I love the smell, the
sight, the flavors, the whole experience. I am one of those people who is not
kept awake by caffeine so I'm not sure it would wake me up if I wanted it to.

I love the taste, the smell, and the essence. But I also run on auto-pilot until I've finished my first cup. Still don't know how I get to work everyday.

It's a bad idea to try and engage me in conversation in the morning before I've peeled off, and knocked back a couple of shots.

you are making me want to drink some right now. I so agree with this. There is nothing like sniffing and slurping especially espresso from my favorite coffee shop.

I'm like @PressoUSA.  I am very cranky in the morning.  I wake up, go to the kitchen and make my coffee, then I lock myself in my room for the next hour until I've had my coffee and have woken up a bit.  I don't drink coffee for the caffeine.  The smell of coffee wakes me up more than the caffeine itself.

Hmmmmm … I'm a mix of NEED and love the smell of and taste of.  Sometimes I really need that extra help waking up, sometimes it's the smell and the taste that starts my day off 'right'.  And sometimes I think it's the ritual of going through whatever brewing process I'm using that morning that starts my day off just right.

I hear ya on the ritual. What does your usual ritual look like?

The ritual …

Well that changes from how I'm going to
enjoy my coffee. Lately it's the coffee press. A good deal of the
time it's from my moka pot. Sometimes I use my Bellman. But it
always starts the same.

I wake up … take care of the morning
necessities. Rub the sleepies out of my eyes. Shuffle into the
kitchen trying to not miss the light switch on the first try. I'm
not usually successful, it is what it is first thing in the morning.

I turn on the tap and get the water
running to at least a cool temperature. I have no idea why, given
that I'm going to be boiling it, but I do. I use filtered water.
Get it into the kettle and get it going.

The grinding of the beans, and I love
the smell of them … I sniff at the bag … sniff at the ground
coffee as it goes into the maker of choice. Darn this is making me
want to make another press pot. Anyway, back to … did I mention
how much I love the smell of coffee? The rest of the prep changes
from method to method.

By this time the water is close enough
to being ready so I just wait it out. The hardest part is when it's
in the press or Bellman and I have to wait it out. The moka pot is
quicker, mostly because I'm always doing something and I don't pay
much mind to the time it takes.

Pour out the black elixir of life into
my cup and enjoy … sweet heaven.

Heaven this morning has been my
Hawaiian Kona from Lisa at rocketfuelcoffee.com . It is great on
this chilly Calgary morning.

Cheers, Guy
