This weekend my husband and I went for our 1st ever espresso! Since he is used to drinking his coffee black, I knew he wouldn't have a problem with an espresso. I put cream & sugar in my coffee, so I ordered an espresso con panna. I figured that was the way to go for my 1st time. I told him to smell it, taste it, then drink it. (Since that's what I've read on how to do it.) I wasn't so sure with mine. I stirred in the whip (which made it foamy) and tasted it that way. I didn't care for the foamyness. When I order a latte, I usually ask them to hold the foam. The espresso was still very strong for me. I'm sure it's an acquired taste. We didn't follow it with a latte, as I've read was recommended. We just went in for our espresso experience as they do in Europe; drink your shot and be on your way. My husband enjoyed his espresso and would definitely try another, maybe a double shot next time. I will give it another try but I'm not so sure it's for me.

So glad you guys tried it out!
A straight espresso takes getting used. Don't give up on it though. Just work your way from a Latte to a cappuccino and down. You may like it better now that know what to expect. I prefer con pana's myself.

Kibbles, great to see that you all are "expanding your horizons" when it comes to coffee. I have yet to meet the coffee or the method of coffee preparation I have not liked.

Hi,
One of our favorite espresso experiences in Buenos Aires is the Café
Martinez. They roast their own coffee, and offer several varieties and
degrees of roas.
