If you drink your coffee black. Whether it's espresso shots or drip coffee tell us about it.

If you recently converted we would also love to hear your story.

I am going to compile a list of stories here about this topic and do a story based on your experiences.

Since I started drinking coffee, I just drink black. And I meant it, I like pure black coffee, no sugar, no swettener, or anything! Nothing better than taste the coffee the way it is :-)

I am a coffee purist.  I cannot remember the last time (if ever) that I had cream in my coffee and I am pretty certain that I have never had sugar in my coffee.  I love to try to discern the various flavors and nuances in my coffee and that is just not possible when it is polluted with cream and/or sugar.  If I want cream, I'll have cream. If I want sugar I'll have sugar.  When I want coffe, I want coffee.

No real converts yet, but that's not going to stop me from trying.

Nothing beats the taste of the true coffe flavor when it's simply that, no cream / milk or sweetener.

I have a few friends who do the same, and yes they also have an appreciation for the flavors and magnificent aroma's that are brought about with no further addition to what comes straight from the machine itself. No converts as yet, just the converted that stick to doing what they know and appreciate in coffee.

Cheers

I sometimes wish that people were not such creatures of habit, because I really think that for most people putting cream and/or sugar in their coffee is more a matter of habit than it is of taste.  It just seems to me that if they would once pay attention and really taste the awesome flavor that a great coffee can bring they would realize how great coffee is without cream and/or sugar.

I started drinking black coffee back in Feb of this year.  It was a hard adjustment coming from using milk, but I made it.  I love drinking coffee black and wish I had done it earlier, but at least I am now.

I drink my coffee black.  How else to you taste the differences between different coffee's.  If you see me putting cream and/or sugar in my coffee … it's not good coffee to me.  I try to get people to try coffee with no additions to it when I bring something special to work … like some Jamaica Blue Mountain or Hawaiian Kona.  If they at least try a sip or two I have at least given them something to think about.

I brought some Kopi Luwak to work once.  I poured out some for each of my workmates.  One of them immediately dumped in a couple of sugars and powdered coffee creamer.  I was so stunned I couldn't say a word.  After a minute I told him what kind of coffee it was and how much it costs. His response was, "this is the way I drink my coffee."  He turned and sauntered off.  I don't bring Kopi Luwak to work anymore.

Cheers, Guy

Caffe espresso or simply espresso (or somewhat controversially, expressoa[›]), is a concentrated beverage brewed by forcing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee.

I can't stand anything in my coffee or espresso. I have to watch my mother-in-law add an artificial sweetner in her drink every time. It just does not get any worse!

Artificial Sweetner is the death of taste for coffee, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Also I hear they are not that great for you… Confused

Black coffee is the best if the coffee itself is good.  I love good freshly roasted organic coffee.  Black coffee is the healthiest way to drink coffee.  But… if it's bad coffee and I feel I need to drink coffee I admit I add 1/2 and 1/2 or cream (never lowfat milk).  At restaurants, I almost always add cream because most places (even good restaurants) tend to serve bad or just okay coffee.

My parents drank coffee black and in my rebellious years I had to have cream.  But… when I ran our of cream I couldn't drink coffee.  That wasn't going to work so for the sake of money, time and calories I went to fresh black coffee.  I love it black.  But… I can't do bad coffee.
