My Experience

Novato is a town north of San Francisco. It is Marin County’s northern most city. There is not much to do here especially at night. I believe more coffee shops should be open till at least ten p.m. Not everyone wants to go to the neighborhood bar. So I am visiting a small independent shop called Dr. Insomnia’s. I have only been here a few times years ago. It is located on Grant Ave. in downtown Novato.

dr2I went in the afternoon on a very warm day. A few people inside, some on computers. It is a nice atmosphere. There is a table in an alcove that allows for a little privacy. There is a room in the back for meetings I suppose and an outside patio. They also have poetry nights here too. They serve different coffees and tea. They also specialize in power blend fitness fuel. There is a large selection with many additives for energy, vitamins, etc. No food offered here except for a small selection of pastries.

I had a caramel frappe. This was good on a hot day but not much coffee flavor. I also had a small cup of their Americano which was strong and very good. It was not too bitter so no milk was needed.

dr1I met a really nice person there who asked for help with her computer. We had a conversation and agreed to meet there sometime in the future for coffee. She is going there to study away from home.

I may go back again sometime . Like I said in the beginning I hadn’t been to Dr. Insomnia’s for years but now will give it a try for a change from my regular hangout

This is certainly one of the more interesting names for a coffee shop though I am not sure how enticing it is. I associate coffee with pleasure but the same is not true of insomnia. The pics do look fairly inviting and your description leaves one with a rather positive impression. All-in-all it sounds like it was a pleasant experience for you and if I ever manage to make it to Novato I may well have to look Dr. Insomnia up.
Thanks for being (I believe) the first besides Jason to review a coffee shop for CoffeeCupNews. I look forward to various reviews by others as well. Great Job!!
