Coffee-Shop-InsideWay #2: (Major) Giveaways

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

Here is one way you could use your social media feeds in conjunction with your blog. (which we will cover below.) This is a great way to show your appreciation to all of your followers while generating excitement around your brand or one of your products. For Example: You are about to release a new coffee that is going to rock the coffee world because of it’s amazing uniqueness and flavor profile. Awesome! But how are people going to find out about it? (Now before we go any further I am assuming that you have your coffee available for purchase online.)

4 Easy Steps to Giveaways (example)

Step 1

Do a video (in a blog post) or write a short blog post announcing a giveaway of your product. In the video or post make sure to clearly communicate how they can enter and what they will win.

Step 2

Announce the blog post on Twitter & Facebook saying something like, “We are Giving Away a New Awesome Coffee! [Link to blog post]”

Step 3

Include a link to the coffee you are giving away in the blog post so people can purchase it if they desire.

Step 4

Make sure that the contest is accomplishing your goals. (Driving them to the content or product you want to highlight.)

That’s it you do a giveaway which drives traffic to your site, excites people about you new product and in the end gets you more exposure and increases sales. It’s a Win, Win for everyone!

Great primer – and one that I believe is useful beyond the context of a coffee shop!

One thing I would add is that “giveaways” can also be in the form of social media (not just physical giveaways such as coffee), i.e., participating in conversations through the platforms you’ve outlined here. For example, retweeting interesting posts by your Twitter followers (including those that are not about your coffee shop), posting comments on others’ Facebook pages and/or other blogs, i.e., using social media to reach out and engage with people beyond posting and tweeting [exclusively] about your coffee and/or coffee shop. Obviously, these conversations have to represent genuine interest and engagement to be most effective.
